City of Chicago Landmark Preservation Excellence Award

This project received three awards.  The most recent occurred on September 14, 2002, when the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois announced this year's Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation award. The category for Rehabilitation & Restoration was awarded to the 360 North Michigan Avenue Building.  Previous Awards Include: The Chicago Building Congress's 2002 Merit Award for Rehab Construction; and The City of Chicago Landmark Preservation Excellence Award.

Illinois Bronze Works provided direct design assistance to Lohan, Caprile & Goettsch Architects for the fabrication and installation of the historic recreation of the monumental entrance at the 360 North Michigan offices in Chicago.  Included was concurrent involvement with Wagner Foundry for the recreation of historical ornamental aluminum castings and careful reassembly, refinishing and installation of the original historical Fort Dearborn cast bronze plaque.  In the tradition of old world craftsmanship the storefront is aluminum casted from over 20 hand carved patterns.
